The International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) is owned and operated by Alexander Kammel, Österreichisches Film – Service e.U., Schaumburgergasse 18, Vienna, Austria. CIFFT brings together the world´s best tourism film festivals that promote excellence, exchange, communication, and collaboration regarding tourism through audiovisual communication.

Membership to CIFFT is open to any tourism film festival that subscribes to the best practices and principles as recognized by CIFFT and its members.

THE CIFFT CIRCUIT

The most exclusive competition for the Travel Video Marketing Industry.

The CIFFT Circuit brings together the World’s Best Tourism Film Festivals in an outstanding competition in the format of “Championship” or “League” to recognize and reward the best Video Ads and Promotional Films for tourism destinations, products and services.

Throughout the year, the submitted works participate in festivals spread across four continents. At each circuit stage, the production is evaluated by a panel of international judges who will decide the winners. Awards obtained throughout each stage will be converted into points that grant access to the CIFFT Ranking List, the leading global resource for benchmarking creativity and effectiveness in Tourism Communication.

The CIFFT Ranking List establishes, at the end of each year, the World’s Best Tourism Films in six thematic categories: Tourist Destinations Cities, Regions, Countries, Tourism Products, Tourism Services and Independent Travel Videos.

KEY DATES

Entry deadline for the FULL Circuit:

To participate in all the festivals that make up the CIFFT Circuit 2023, submit your video or series until:

1st Deadline:  November 30th, 2022 (10 Festivals)

2nd Deadline:  January 31st, 2023 (09 Festivals)

Submission of a video or series can be made at any time of the year. However, in this situation, participation will only be guaranteed in festivals that are still in the period of accepting entries.

ELIGIBILITY

The competition is open to public and private entities who own or have produced a Tourism Film or Travel Video such as:

Tourism Boards, DMO’s, Tourism Institutions and Associations; Advertising and PR Agencies; Marketing Agencies; Production Companies; Transportation Companies (Airlines, Cruise Lines, Car Rental, etc); Accommodation Companies (Hotels, Resorts, etc); Tourist Attractions; and other tourism services.

All videos that has been aired/produced/posted online after January 1st 2020, is eligible for submission.

The entrant must own the copyright of the participating film/video/series or have permission to use it.

ENTRY FEES & PAYMENTS

The Full Entry Service Package includes the registration and the distribution of the video in the CIFFT Circuit festivals, submissions and deadlines management and direct access to an exclusive extra competition - the CIFFT “People’s Choice” Award. All entry fees of the festivals are included in this price.

  • Single Entry: 2 150,00 € (EUR) (Video Ads, Brand/Promotional Video)

  • Series Entry: 2 950,00 € (EUR) 

Please Note:

  1. All Festivals entry fees (International competition) are already included in the Full Entry Service Packages. This includes also the charges for handling fees of distribution and registration.
  2. In case of winning, there might occur extra costs for the personal attendance at the festivals, the shipment and customs handling of your trophies.
  3. CIFFT does not assume responsibility if one of the festivals gets cancelled owing to unforeseen reasons.

Following the endorsement agreement between European Travel Commission (ETC) and CIFFT, it was established that all Video Ads and Promotional films of the ETC Full members benefit from a € 350 discount on the registration of a single video or series.

CIFFT also decides to extend the discount to all national public institutions from the ETC country full member such as: Municipalities, Tourism Regions, Tourism Institutions, Museums, Natural Parks, Nature Reserves, Routes, among others public services.

Payment Details:

20% VAT will be charged for Austria and entrants from EU countries without a VAT number registered in the VIES (EU VAT number validation). https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/?locale=en

Payments can be made either by Bank Transfer or by Credit Card (VISA/MasterCard). 

For public bodies, the issuance of the invoice and payment will be dependent on the rules imposed by the EU or the country in question.

JUDGING PROCESS

The judges who integrate the CIFFT Circuit festivals are made up of renowned professionals and specialists in the areas of Tourism, Marketing, Advertising, Communication and Journalism, Cinema and Audiovisual from all over the world.

Festivals are independent and responsible for selecting and managing their own panel of judges.

The works submitted and accepted in the competition are evaluated following criteria such as Impact, Concept, Creativity, Storytelling, Objectivity, Originality, Technical Production and Visual Performance.

THE WORLD’S TOURISM FILM AWARDS

Annually the World’s Best Tourism Films are awarded by the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT), endorsed by UNWTO (World Tourism Organization), ETC (European Travel Commission, CTO (Caribbean Tourism Organization), and CATA (Centro America Tourism Association).

The exclusive World’s Tourism Film Awards honours the most creative and innovative Travel Videos of the year at a memorable award ceremony in Vienna, Austria. Only the best makes it to this final after passing and convincing the judges of the different stages spread across four continents that make up the CIFFT circuit.

The Top 3 films in each of the six thematic categories will be awarded according to their position in the ranking list (1st, 2nd and 3rd place) as the “World’s Best Tourism Films” of the year. 

Traditionally the winners sponsor some brand activation and invite the festival participants to the activities. (Please contact us for more details).

CIFFT RANKINGS

The CIFFT Rankings are the exclusive reference that honors the most creative, innovative, and effective tourism videos.
Rankings allow destinations, trade, creative agencies, and audiovisual producers to measure the impact of their work in promoting a particular tourist destination, product, or service.
The CIFFT Rankings have been running since 1989. In 2020, it was divided into five thematic Rank Lists to ensure that participants competed with their peers.

In a single space, we gathered the winner lists of the World's Best Tourism Film Festivals to establish the annual rankings of the world audiovisual competition for tourism promotion. The CIFFT Rank Lists are:

  • Tourism Destination City The world's most awarded promos and commercials about Cities, Municipalities, Villages, or Local Destinations for creativity based on award performance.
  • Tourism Destination Region The world's most awarded promos and commercials about Regions, Counties, States, Communities, or Islands for creativity based on award performance.
  • Tourism Destination Country The world's most awarded promos and commercials about Countries for creativity based on award performance.
  • Tourism Products The world's most awarded promotional and commercials about promoting a tourist experience in a particular destination for creativity based on award performance.
  • Tourism Services The world's most awarded promotional and commercials about promoting any service provided to tourists for creativity based on award performance.

The CIFFT Rankings are created with the Best Tourism Film Festivals worldwide for the industry to ensure the relevance of the rankings.

Methodology

The CIFFT Rankings reflect the results of the festivals that take place in that same year. However, sometimes some videos start to participate in the last festivals of the year, and the points achieved are only reflected in the rankings of the following year.
All the winners of the International Competition of the Member Festivals related to tourism promotion are eligible for the five CIFFT Rank Lists.

The rating is expressed on a scale from 4 to 18. The film receives points according to the award obtained at each festival:

         Special Notes:

  1. In case a film receives more than one award, only the highest award will be considered for the Rankings.
  2. The awards obtained at the CIFFT candidate festivals do not count for the CIFFT Rankings.
  3. Regarding the National Competition in some of the festival members, only the Grand Prix Winner will be considered for the CIFFT Rankings.
  4. The CIFFT Rankings will be updated and published on our website, as authorized by each entrant, the week after the Award Ceremony of each festival.
CIFFT "People's Choice" Award

CIFFT “PEOPLE´S CHOICE” AWARD – ONLINE VOTING

CIFFT “People´s Choice” Award is an online voting competition promoted by CIFFT, for all the films that participate in the Grand Prix CIFFT Circuit registered through CIFFT Full Entry Service and the winner will be recognized with the title of the World´s Best Tourism Film – CIFFT “People´s Choice” Award.

These Voting Rules and Procedures for the CIFFT “People’s Choice” Award are subject to change at any time at the sole discretion of CIFFT. Void where prohibited.

Voting is simple and easy. To vote, visit www.cifft.com and follow the links to complete the Voting Process. The Finalist who receives the most votes during the Voting Period (defined below), as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion, will be named the CIFFT “People’s Choice” Award Winner, subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the Contest Entrant Official Rules. Voting will be conducted pursuant to these Voting Rules and Procedures and any such other rules and procedures as Sponsor may from time to time designate.

ELIGIBILITY

Everyone with internet access can make a vote. The vote is anonymous. We do not store your data.

VOTING PERIOD & RESTRICTIONS

Voting is open from 12:00AM CET October 01, 2021, to 12:00AM CET October 20, 2021.

  1. During the Voting Period, individuals are limited to one vote per day, and this limit is enforced based on both IP Address and Browser Session. This means that: An individual can vote only once a day. The system checks and limits voting by tracking both the user's IP Address and their Browser Session. If either is recognized as having voted already that day, another vote will not be allowed. 
  2. Sponsor reserves the right to change the limit on the number of Votes, in its sole discretion.
  3. Notification regarding any such change will be posted on the Website.

HOW TO VOTE ONLINE

Access to the Website to view the Voting choices available in the Online Voting page on the Website during the applicable Voting Period. You may submit your Vote during the Voting Period by clicking “Vote” on the entry videos.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

Sponsor has the right, in its sole discretion, to void any Vote that appears, to have been made by a person not meeting the eligibility requirements set forth above, or to be an automated or duplicate Vote, and has the right to permanently disqualify from any Voting any person it believes has violated these rules. If for any reason the Voting is not capable of being run or implemented as planned, including, but not limited to, as the result of infection by computer viruses or bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, or any other cause beyond the control of the Sponsor, which is likely to, or actually corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Voting, then Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to withdraw the transmission of any Vote and/or to terminate or suspend the Voting at any point and declare the Voting results for the People’s Choice based upon the Votes up to that point. Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual (and all of his/her competition entries) who tampers with the Voting process.

In the event of technical difficulties with the Voting, including, but not limited to, mobile or Internet service interruptions, Sponsor reserves the right to review the Votes for accuracy and to take any appropriate action, including, without limitation, voiding the Votes cast during the time period in which such technical difficulties occurred. Released Parties are not responsible for any computer, network, technical, electronic, human or other errors or problems of any kind, for any injury or damage to participants or to any person’s computer or mobile phone relating to or resulting from Voting or downloading materials or software in connection with the Voting, or for Votes that are stolen, misdirected, garbled, delayed, lost, or late. By participating, each individual agrees to release and hold the Released Parties harmless against any and all claims and liability of any kind arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, out of their participation in the Voting.

Sponsor is not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate entry information, whether caused by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the competition, or by any technical or human error, which may occur in the processing of the competition entries. Sponsor is not responsible for an interrupted or unavailable network server or other connections, miscommunications, failed telephone or computer transmissions or jumbled, scrambled or misdirected Votes or transmissions, or for phone, electrical, network, computer hardware or software or program malfunctions, failures or difficulties or for other errors, omissions, interruptions, or deletions of any kind whether human, mechanical or electronic or for any damage to any person’s computer related to participating in the competition.

RIGHTS OF USE - PROMOTION & PUBLICITY

The entrant is required to assign the streaming rights to the CIFFT to declare, that he is entitled to dispose of all rights to the use of the entry and vouches for these rights vis-a-vis the CIFFT. The entrant warrants that the rights of use held by all authors, owners of ancillary copyrights and other parties involved in the production of the CIFFT entry, except for the rights safeguarded by the performing rights societies, have been acquired in a due and proper manner and the exploitation of the CIFFT entry is not barred by personality rights or other third party rights in any manner whatsoever.

Entering in the CIFFT the entrant transfers rights to the use of the CIFFT entry, specifically the right to present and demonstrate the entry in public either in whole or in part or to distribute the entry in whole or in part on a “Festival Reel” or similar, to the festival. This also applies to stills/images provided to the festival. All aforementioned transfers of use shall be of worldwide validity.

The CIFFT and its members reserves the right to compile entries on a “Festival Reel” or similar, also in processed form, and to distribute same on a medium deemed appropriate. This also applies to stills/images provided.

By entering a film the entrant accepts all Rules and Regulations and also agrees to hold the festival harmless against all costs or claims of third parties arising from any such use by the CIFFT or any member or from false information by the entrant. Exclusive place of jurisdiction is Vienna, Austria. The CIFFT will not sell or rent personal data provided by you.

CIFFT supports the right to privacy, including the rights of individuals to control the dissemination and use of personal data that describes them. CIFFT is committed to protecting personal data of the users of our website, and utilizes technical and organization measures to protect your data.
